Working with Families to Prevent Youth Substance Abuse – “Strengthening Families" - the Nardin Park Experience
The Substance Abuse Training Project (joint venture of the Michigan Association of Community Mental Health Boards and the Michigan Association of Substance Abuse Coordinating Agencies) will present: Working with Families to Prevent Youth Substance Abuse – “Strengthening Families" - the Nardin Park Experience on March 11, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at MACMHB/Impact Training Center, 426 S. Walnut, Lansing, MI 48933. Cost $28.
Although an individual may be the primary focus of treatment in our system of care, it is important to recognize the entire family unit as both a potential source of support as well as an opportunistic target for preventive intervention. Nardin Park operates a Methadone treatment program. This workshop will highlight the importance of establishing an effective family intervention program with particular attention to the Nardin Park experience implementing “Strengthening Familiesâ€, a nationally recognized program model with both intervention and prevention implications. This training features Lisa M. Williams, Registered Pharmacist, Performance Improvement Coordinator, Nardin Park Recovery Center.
